It wasn’t long ago that gay men were not welcome in many
places around the world. However, due to the recent liberalization
of many countries and governments and the realization of the
benefits of gay travel to local economies, gay traveling has
been a hot and expanding area of growth.

From Rio to New York to Vancouver, ‘gay
everything’ is the motto. There are gay hotels, gay
cruises, gay vacation packages, gay pride parade vacations,
gay resorts, gay bars, gay vacation rentals etc. There is
so much focused on travel and on this lifestyle, that it’s
hard to absorb all the advertising. However, as many gay
men have noted, it’s better to have this problem than
not to have it!
Personally, I have never been a big fan of gay-oriented
travel. Why would we want to be treated any differently
or want to be segregated from mainstream travel? Well,
gay travel definitely has its’ perks. Nothing feels
better than being with a group of gay men who share common
interests, lifestyles, outlook on life and personalities.
Within this group of gay travelers, you really feel more
at home. |
First for gay travel came gay friendly hotels. These hotels
were usually owned and operated by gay men, often gay couples.
From bed and breakfasts to motels to hotels, gay accommodation
has been a steady and blossoming industry. With five-star amenities
and service, many gay men have opted for gay friendly hotels
for their business or vacation stays.
Second for gay travel came gay cruises. The infamous Atlantis
gay cruises have been in operation for a few decades. From professional
to raunchy, these gay cruises are always a blast. Great food,
awesome music, themes and service, gay cruises are something
you should definitely experience.

Third for gay travel came gay vacation packages. Many travel
agencies provide different all-inclusive or gay pride parade
packages for singles and couples. It’s a great way to
travel as you don’t have to think much about itineraries,
where you’re going to eat, sleep etc. Gay travel has never
been this easy!
Next on the list of gay travel items are gay resorts. With
a perfect blend of isolation to amenities and to high-class
service gay resorts provide the a great vacation experience.
These gay resorts are usually located in isolated areas including
islands, mountains, beaches and campgrounds. Gay resort travel
is one of the fastest growing travel industries today!
What is gay travel without a visit to gay bars? Well, bars
and pubs catered to gay men have popped up in every corner of
the globe. It’s a great place to hang-out with friends
or meet gay men from around the world. Gay bars are now trendy
places to be seen.
Gay travel also includes vacation rentals. From kayaks to bungalows
to camp areas, gay travel now includes many outreaches of the
great outdoors. With the growing urbanization and population
increase in the places we live and work, getting out of the
city is a blessing. Gay travel now has spread to the water and
mountains. Gay vacation rentals allow gay men to rent outdoor
equipment that they would use during their vacation. This allows
gay men to experience different things without have to shell
out the money to purchase a kayak or rollerblades.
So the buzz around gay travel is real. Gay men will continue
to look for gay-oriented travel agencies, vacations, cruises,
all-inclusive packages, vacation rentals and bars. One of the
most intriguing part of gay travel is the opportunity to meet
gay men from around the world. The excitement comes from learning
more about each other’s interests, lives and places that
they come from.

Gay travel has nothing to do with standing out or segregating
from mainstream travel. Gay travel has everything to do with
integration and meeting gay men that you would never have the
opportunity of meeting. How else would you have a chance of
meeting people from all continents who speak entirely different
languages, have different cultures and backgrounds, all at the
dinner table? The answer is, you won’t, unless you went
on a gay travel vacation. Try gay travel today … you won’t
